About My Non-Profit

Dwarf Athletic Association Of America
EIN: 38-2733598

As you probably already know, my son Brett was born with a common type of Dwarfism called Achondroplasia.  For this reason, he will have a difficult time being competitive in sports that the rest of us took for granted during our childhood.

The Dwarf Athletic Association of America has been a special part in my life, giving people like him the opportunity to level the playing field with other athletes that have height challenges.  Brett has not been old enough to compete in past events, but this year in Nashville, he will be meet the 4 year old requirement to compete in the futures division, so hopefully we will get to watch him play basketball or soccer.

They also have an anual fundraising golf tournament at the Little People of America National Conference, which will be in Nashville next year if anyone is interested.

About My Fundraiser

Ok, so I must be crazy.  A year ago, I had just made a trip back from Oktoberfest in Germany and was 40 lbs overweight.  Who would have ever thought I would be considering doing an Ironman 70.3 event.

Well, I made a decision to take care of my health and have made it back to an ideal weight and have decided to keep the motivation going by competing in tirathlons and other endurance events.  This year, I have competed in the Newport Beach Triathlon, Camp Pendleton Triathlon, Disneyland Half Marathon and the LA Triathlon.  I have decided to take it to the next level and am going to complete a Marathon and a half ironman race next year.

My goal race is called an Ironman 70.3, wich will take place in Oceanside, CA on March 27.  70.3 defines the number of miles that the event covers, which is exactly half of a full ironman race.  It is a 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike and finishes with a 13.1 mile run (that's a half marathon).  Any of those distances are something that a year ago I would have thought imposible, but in March, I am going to complete all 3 on the same day.  My times have not been competitive with the winners and probably never will be, but I am out there competing, making myself better and best of all finishing these events.

I really appreciate each of you taking the time to consider making even a small donation to help keep the DAAA running and me in top health.
